Comes down to Texas?

Fighting Bob
Maybe, perhaps, possibly, might happen, but expect to hear "it was Bill's assertion" not Hillary's, that she had to win Texas and Ohio. She is now talking about the complexities of the Texas race and Pennsylvania as the firewall. So, maybe th

Get serious . . .

Fighting Bob
The Lobbyist's Legislature (LL) heads into the last days of this session without passing legislation providing public funding for Supreme Court races; without expanding health coverage for children with autism; without discussing how the $650 million

Say what??

Jim Doyle has asked the feds to declare "all of Wisconsin in compliance with national clean air standards." OK, makes sense. Just tell the truth, I say. But there is an "oops" factor. Turns out Doyle's DNR has found "that the a

One day to go

Fighting Bob
My guess: Obama will win big in Vermont; squeak out a 5 point win in Rhode Island; take the Texas caucus vote by 10 points; win the Texas primary vote by a narrow margin while Hillary Clinton will take Ohio 49-48 and will announce it is "on to Pennsylvania." If I'm right, the battle will shift to Michigan and Florida. If that is the case, the divisions in the Party may well elect John McCain. The phone call at three in the morning TV spot had a big blow-back. First, when asked, her chief strategist could not name a single foreign policy crisis Hillary Clinton had to deal with. Then Bill Richardson came out with an assurance that Obama was fully capable of handling foreign policy and Jay Rockefeller endorsed Barack. And it permitted Obama to bring back Hillary's vote in favor of the Iraq war. The economy will be the number one issue from now until November including the $275 million per day going to Iraq that could be spent on our schools, health care, the deficit. Of note: United Technologies is trying a take over of Diebold--yes, that Diebold--manufacturer of voting machines. Lookout! Fighting Bob making progress

Buckle Your Seatbelt!!

Fighting Bob
We are in for a ride today. Will Texas (of all places) and Ohio (of all places) knock the Chair of the DLC Dream Initiative , Hillary Clinton, out of the contest and give the Democratic Party back to the people? Or, will those voters give Senator Clinton the momentum she and her happy band of advisers (Mark Penn--"Don't blame me!") need to move on? Will Al From be drinking champagne at the Ritz-Carleton with Evan Bayh and Tom Vilsack or sipping cognac alone in his den? How do you know candidates? Well, one test I use is their attitude toward the right-wing Democratic Leadership Council (DLC) run by Al From and lots of other faux Democrats. Founded in 1985, the DLC has been the wizard behind the curtain pushing NAFTA with a passion, welfare reform, and war. A friend described the DLC as the "40 Southern White Boys" who rode into town to save the Party from dangerous lefties like you meet at Fighting Bob Fest

Wisconsin Fool's Day?

Fighting Bob
The idea of an election on April Fool's Day is absurd. Sneak up on a co-worker and say, "I voted for Gableman." Just before the stunned colleague can respond, you holler, "Wisconsin Fools!" Then you go to your next cubicle and announce a "n

Gableman

We will never forget W's "Mission Accomplished" nor will we forget FDR's "We have nothing to fear but fear itself." Add Michael Gableman's words carried in yesterday's papers to your words to remember book: "I am proud of the ca

Consequences for dishonesty?

We are talking about the Supreme Court not the Justice of the Peace in Podunk village. Citizens more or less expect candidates for governor or president to "forget" some details or even stretch the truth. But voters have a right to believe th
