Welcome to the ExpressMilwaukee.com Poetry Page!

Check here every Monday for a new piece from both past and present Wisconsin poets.

A note from our poem curator, Susan Firer:

For years, in diverse nooks and venues, magazines and reviews, I've been listening to and reading poems and liking what I've heard and read.

How many different types of poetry there are! Poetic diversity is one indicator of cultural health. We don't want everyone to write the same poem, do we? My poetry tastes are eclectic. If you don't like a poem one week, check back again. Wisconsin is rich with interesting, lively poems. It is my pleasure to share some of them with you.

Because of an already full calendar, we are not accepting submissions until further notice.

Susan Firer's most recent book is Milwaukee Does Strange Things to People: New & Selected Poems 1997-2007. She is the current Poet Laureate of Milwaukee.
