The West Side location of Fiesta Garibaldi
received a new paint job this summer. The exterior is fun, a bright
assortment of colors that borders on graffiti. The dining room still
has one wall with a mural of deep-sea creatures-appropriate, given that
Mexican seafood is the specialty here. The opposite wall has baseball
stars, a tribute to nearby Miller Park. Paper hangings from the ceiling
display some new specials. One is albondiga de camarone en sopa, a
shrimp meatball soup. I tried to order it a few times, but it never
seems to be available. Don't worry, though, the menu is filled with
other shrimp options-in fact, Fiesta Garibaldi offers some of the best
Mexican shrimp dishes in this area. Camarones a la diabla is jumbo
shrimp in a sauce that is truly fiery. A shrimp soup served in a glazed
pottery bowl is worth ordering as well. The broth, which contains small
bits of peas, carrots and potatoes, is red with hot sauce. On the side
is a plate of chopped cilantro, onion and lime wedges. This is a
delicious way to eat shrimp, though not for the timid.
