Jacques serves the type of traditional, French bistro cuisine that never goes out of style. Escargot and crepes are draws here, as is the onion soup gratinee, which is worth a visit alone. The broth is a delicate beef stock, not too salty, allowing the flavor of the sweet onions to predominate. It is topped with a slice of bread and Gruyere cheese. The spinach Roquefort crepes ($7.95) are fine vegetarian fare. The pair of thin crepes are perfectly prepared with a luxuriant cream sauce with the right touch of cheese. There are seven other crepes which make this a great Sunday brunch destination.
