Bayou

240 The name Bayou implies Louisiana, but the music and decor here have none of the trappings; no blaring Zydeco music, no Mardi Gras beads and no unnecessary clutter. The menu does focus on Cajun food, but adds creative twists to Southern ingredients. The gumbo, which appears as an entre with the name Les Betes De La Mer gumbo, is a medley of seafood with green lip mussels, shelled shrimp, scallions and okra, which is used as a thickener rather than roux. The jambalaya is spicy and imaginative and, like all entrees, is beautifully plated. The restaurant overlooks the river, and in warmer weather opens an outdoor deck with views of the wooded hillside.

N.S
Spectacular Cajun, innovative dishes 5 Star Rating - World class By Nicole H. As a New Orleanian, it's difficult to find restaurants that don't just blacken things and put a lot of spice on them and call them Cajun. Bayou has unique dishes that are well-thought-out and use southern ingredients to their perfection. Their basic dinner menu is good, but their nightly specials list has never disappointed. Dine outside on the river when it's nice out. Don't forget about brunch. Their french toast is wonderful, with thick, rustic bread and raisins. The desserts are heavenly and true to their Louisiana roots. Try the banana bread pudding, you won't be disappointed. Also LOVE that they carry Louisiana micro-brews. Would recommend again and again.
