Soulstice Theatre is proud to open its 2008/2009 season, dedicated to the memory of Keith Tamsett, with It's Only a Play by Terrence McNally. Only a writer who loves the theatre could have written a comedy like this one. "Whatever happens tonight, it's only a play," the revelers at an opening-night party keep reminding themselves, as they wait for the reviews of Broadway's newest arrival, The Golden Egg. Directed by Char Manny, the play features many of Keith's associates and friends. Matthew Michaelis plays James Wicker, the actor & best friend of Peter, the writer, played by Jason Thompson. Jillian Smith plays Julia Budder, the Producer. Josh Perkins is Frank Finger, the Director. Kelly Simon plays Virginia Noyes, the star. The cast is rounded out by Al Oldham, Ken Dillon and Margaret Casey as Ira Drew (the critic), Gus (the party butler) and Emma (the theatre-obsessed NY taxi driver) respectively.
