Celebrating its 34 th anniversary, the popular Morning Glory Craft Fair, presented by the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council (WDCC), returns this summer to the handsome Marcus Center for the Performing Arts and Red Arrow Park (owned by the Milwaukee County Parks) directly to the east across Water Street in downtown Milwaukee. This year´s 34th annual Morning Glory Fair will be staged on Saturday, August 9, and Sunday, August 10, from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. both days. One-hundred-and-forty fine craft exhibitors will display and sell their work outdoors, and the fair is free and open to the public. A silent auction will be held on Saturday only on the stage of the Peck Pavilion at the Marcus Center. Proceeds benefit our scholarship fund. Summer picnic food and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the weekend. The Morning Glory Craft Fair is one of the area´s leading fine craft events, showcasing the talent of regional and national fine craft artists working in ceramics, fiber, enamel, jewelry, leather, metal, sculpture, photography, glass, wood, printmaking, and mixed media. With an emphasis on decorative, yet functional fine crafts for the home %u2013 plus wearables, jewelry, and accessories, attendees will find a lavish selection of high-quality contemporary crafts in a wide range of prices. Most Morning Glory exhibitors are members of the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council (WDCC), a statewide fine crafts organization. WDCC, founded in 1916, is the second oldest professional fine crafts organization in the nation, and is celebrating its 89th anniversary in 2005. The group is dedicated to fostering excellence in fine crafts and making them more significant in the cultural life of Wisconsin. Membership is open to all who share this interest, including artists, educators, gallery owners, and collectors. Members follow the legacy of many prestigious WDCC predecessors %u2013 renowned fine craft artists such as Emil Kronquist, Dorothy Meredith, Walter Nottingham, and Harvey Littleton.
