The Danceworks DanceLAB welcomes Rebecca Stenn Company in its first ever Milwaukee appearance on July 18 and 19, 2008, at 7:30 p.m. in the Danceworks Studio Theatre. The performance, which is Ms. Stennīs MFA Thesis concert, is co-presented with the UWM Dance Department. Founded in 1996, Rebecca Stenn Company is devoted to bringing together new music, rock, jazz and classical with evocative, athletic dance to create distinctive pieces that challenge the ways in which these two mediums interact. Rebecca Stenn Company will revisit the critically acclaimed work Blue Print, which comprises five dancers and three musicians playing an original score, and often interacting with the dancers. Also on the eveningīs bill is the duet Periphery, a multi-layered piece about places on the edge, boundaries, borders and breaking out. Periphery includes two dancers performing to a score created by award-winning electric bassist Jay Weissman, played live. Rebecca Stenn will also teach an Advanced Modern Master Class on July 19 from 3-4:30 p.m. at Danceworks; the cost is $15. Tickets for Rebecca Stenn Company are $20 general admission seating, with $15 tickets for students and seniors. Due to limited seating, advance ticket purchases are strongly recommended. Rebecca Stenn Company is the second of four performances in the DanceLAB series, an experimental performance initiative encouraging artists and audiences to expand their thinking about dance as an art form. Patrons are invited to become "LAB Rats" by buying a season pass for $50, which includes reserved seating for all four DanceLAB shows. For tickets, please call Danceworks Box Office at 414-277-8480 ext 6025, or log onto www.danceworks1661.org. Free parking is available in an adjacent lot after 5:00 p.m.
