Magazine Editor to Speak at Mount Mary College

Mount Mary College, 2900 N. Menomonee River Parkway, welcomes Ron Kovach, senior editor of The Writer Magazine, on Monday, April 21. Kovach will speak to students and guests about the freelance writer´s life and tips for getting published. The event, which is sponsored by Mount Mary´s English Department, takes place from 6 to 8 p.m. in Stiemke Hall, located on the second floor of Notre Dame Hall. It is free and open to the community. The Writer Magazine, based in Waukesha, is a monthly magazine that provides tips on the craft of writing, story ideas, news about writing conferences, markets, interviews with writers, and more to aspiring as well as seasoned writers. Kovach holds a journalism degree from Kent State University and a master´s degree in history from Cleveland State University. Before joining The Writer Magazine, he worked for more than two decades in newspapers as a copy editor, features editor, reporter and assistant metro editor in New York, Ohio and Milwaukee. "In my free time, I perform as a blues organ player, attempt moderately challenging gourmet recipes in the kitchen, and enjoy a lake cottage with my family," Kovach writes on the magazine´s Web site, www.writermag.com.
