Susan McGovern, Past President of the United Association of Greater Milwaukee will review the international situation based on the newly released UNICEF report on the State of the World"s Children 2008. Each year hundreds of thousands of children around the world die needless deaths from avoidable causes such as starvation, diseases for which we have vaccines, or lack of sanitation and decent drinking water. Here in Milwaukee we have one-quarter of our children living in poverty, and major child and teenage health problems. The focus will be on what is being done and what can be done to help children here and around the world.
