THE WAMI'S AND JAM 4 S.A.M. JOIN FORCES TO AID AILING MUSICIANS WAMI Nominees and Winners to Perform at Jam 4 S.A.M. Benefit Concert

Jam 4 S.A.M. (Serving Ailing Musicians) will be staging a benefit concert on Sunday, May 4th, at The RAVE/Eagles Bar. The concert will feature performances by WAMI-nominated bands, some of whom will be among the WAMI winners announced at the WAMI Awards presentation on April 28th. Proceeds from the Jam 4 S.A.M. concert will go into a fund that will be used to provide temporary aid to professional, self-employed musicians and their families who are caught in a crisis brought on by sudden illness or serious accident.

The Jam 4 S.A.M. concert will provide a venue for many of this year´s WAMI-nominated bands to perform on the same stage, and will give the public-at-large a unique opportunity to see these bands perform at the same place on the same day. The concert will also feature food from local restaurants, and a Health Fair designed to raise awareness in local musicians and others about the many cost-effective health services that are available to them here in the Milwaukee area.

The concert will begin at 2 pm and continue until 8 pm. A donation of $20 or more will be requested at the door.

Jam 4 S.A.M. is a grassroots, non-profit organization that first sprang to life when local musician Sam Steffke contracted a rare and deadly blood disease. A benefit concert was quickly organized. Local bands contributed their services, and a significant sum of money was raised for the Steffke family.

The organizers of Jam 4 S.A.M., recognizing the need for a support group to help local professional musicians when disaster strikes, have made the commitment to make Jam 4 S.A.M. a permanent, non-profit organization. The May 4th event will be the first event dedicated to raising money for a general fund that will be in place to help local musicians the next time the need arises.
