Punching Across the Aisle

In Section: General Posted By: MrRight

I'm plodding through Barack Obama's manifesto, The Audacity of Hope.  I'm about half-way through, and I need some help.

This guy writes much like I talk- use common sense, everyone working together for the common good, yadda yadda, etc.

Can someone, ANYONE, please find me even one example of Obama reaching across the aisle?  I'd bet a finger that every politician since the Civil War has spoken of "reaching across the aisle" and many have promised to put people from the opposing party in their cabinets.  That rhetoric is nothing new.

But let's be honest with ourselves- Obama is the most liberal senator in the Congress.  Every proposal he has made and is likely to make goes so far towards Socialism as to alienate anyone who wants to be rewarded for the work they actually do.  He is as partisan as they come.  Now, I certainly don't want to use the "R" word, but what exactly does "It's our time" mean?  Not the most unifying statement, to be sure.

OK, OK, I know I'll drink the kool-aid (OH YEAH!) once Obama picks Bono as his running mate.  If even that doesn't sway me, I will report without struggle to the NBC offices for my shock therapy.
