Famous Milwaukeeans

I travel a great deal but sadly the only celebrity sighting I've witnessed was at my local Best Buy a few years ago. Browsing through some CD's and DVD's who do I see? Screech from Saved by the Bell. He isn't a Milwaukee native but I've heard he lives around the area and does stand-up. Dustin Diamond is his actual name.

These were his pre-sex tape, pre-"Save Screetch's House" T-shirt selling days. He looked a lot heavier and I had to do a double take because I knew the face, but he looked so different. I was reassured by the cashier who told me that a few weeks earlier Halle Berry was there with her husband at the time who is a Wisconsin native. I sure felt jipped.

Searching online I found some very famous celebrites born right here in Milwaukee, perhaps someday you'll see them roaming local stores or restaurants, keep your eyes open:

Heather Graham: the beautiful actress who starred in movies such as Austin Powers and Boogie Nights, also a long-running guest star on the hit show Scrubs
Steve Miller: Guitarist and singer for the Steve Miller Band
Violent Femmes: They were discovered outside of the Oriental Theatre back in 1981. But now they're gone daddy gone (I couldn't resist)
Liberace: Sorry you probably will never run into him anywhere, especially Best Buy, but there may be some CD's of him tickling the ivories

About 7 years ago, back in my bartending days, Screech often mooched free beers, sometimes even using the line "Dude, my lady spilled her beer, can I get another Lite?" The poor guy had to beef up, I think to be able to defend himself from frat boys who wanted to say that they beat on Screech. He was a sad sight back then, and I did feel bad for him, but man- he must have burned through some serious money to end up in sex vids and celebrity beat-downs... I was in Prague once, talking to a bartender from Green Bay, and Liam Neeson came in and sat down next to me. I think that's all I've got.
