Barrett's Recovering, Suspect Reportedly in Custody

- I’m trying to gather some fresh information being reported about the horrible attack on Mayor Tom Barrett after he left State Fair last night.

WTMJ and the Journal Sentinel are reporting that the suspect is in custody.

Barrett is still in the hospital and in stable condition. He’s scheduled to have surgery today on broken bones on his right hand. It looks like he’ll leave the hospital by Tuesday, WTMJ is reporting, and he’s in stable condition.

John Barrett, the mayor’s brother, and the Milwaukee and West Allis police departments will hold a press conference at 2 pm to update the media on the mayor’s condition and the status of the investigation.

So here’s what we know so far: Barrett had attended the State Fair on Saturday and left with his sister at about 10:45 pm. The mayor had heard a woman cry out for help on the 8800 block of West Orchard Street, and when he pulled out his cell phone to call police the suspect repeatedly beat Barrett in the head with a pipe. The incident allegedly stemmed out of a domestic dispute between the 20-year-old suspect and his ex-girlfriend over a child custody fight.

So Mayor… how’s that gun control thing workin out for ya? Not to good, huh! Duuuhhh! If you had pulled a pistol instead of a cell phone, you wouldn’t be in the hospital. Not only did you jeopardize your own safety by unskilled, untrained, unprepared intervention in a violent situation, but you jeopardized the safety of your niece and children if they were anywhere near you at the time. There’s a big difference between heroism and foolishness, and you’re no hero.

So your solution would be to have pulled a gun. No potential risk there. You are an idiot, Dan.

Risk to whom? The criminal or Samaritan? So, no name… you think having a violent criminal knock your teeth out and break your hand with a steel pipe is more noble and praise worthy than using a firearm to defend your own life or the life of an innocent person? And you think I’m an idiot? That’s funny. I’m flattered. Obviously it would take more than a steel pipe to knock any common sense into your head.

If he'd pulled a pistol, Dan, he'd be out of office and in prison. Why are the stupid Conservatives always so quick to display their ignorance? This ain't the Old West, Burke. We don't settle our disputes with quick draw stand offs. And it's "not too good" not "not to good." You don't need concealed carry rights, you need phonics, grammar and spelling lessons.

I love it. The last resort of a liberal with no rational argument: Personally insult your opponent by calling them “an idiot” or “stupid”. Then immediately change the subject to something really important, like a hasty grammatical oversight. The idea of liberals being beaten senseless by steel pipe wielding criminals does have a certain humorous appeal to it. Personally, if someone attacks this “stupid conservative” with a steel pipe, there won’t be a quick draw stand off. It will be a quick draw followed by a quick double tap; One in the chest and one in the head. Cheers!

Reference my last post. P.S. – I already have nationwide concealed carry rights under HR 218, and if necessary I’ll use that right to protect myself, my family and my brother and sister LEO’s from violent criminals. But if I happen to come upon a criminal giving you a tune up with a steel pipe, please identify yourself so I don’t accidentally intervene on your behalf. I wouldn’t want you to be traumatized by the sight and sound of a firearm.

daniel, i don't think you're an idiot or dumb. I think you're incapable of intelligent discourse or reasoning.

I don’t know if Mr. Burke is incapable of intelligent discourse or reasoning, but I find it interesting that you didn’t answer his questions.
