- Summerfest revealed its final 2009 Marcus Amphitheater headliner today, and it's an inspired one: KISS, the iconic, heavily merchandised hard-rock band. Though Ace Frehley (the Spaceman) and Peter Criss (meow) left the band earlier this decade, Gene Simmons and Paul Stanley have been working on new material, penning an album they'd hoped to release last year (that never happened). This year has been a quite one for the band, and their Saturday, June 27 performance at the Marcus Amphitheater is one of only two tour dates they've scheduled for this year.

And, lest there be any doubts, the band will be performing in full make-up.

Tickets go on sale Tuesday, May 26 at noon.

This year has been quiet for KISS? You been under a rock? This year they've already toured South America, they've recorded a new album, they're touring Canada in June, and will be touring the US in the fall. Get your facts straight!!!

And... they rocked the American Idol Finale with one of the best AI performances ever. They have always been busy. Paul Stanley had a nice solo album a few years back (and accompanying solo tour with the INXS: Rock Star house band). Paul also has been selling many paintings he has created and doing showings at galleries all over the country. Gene continues to do the Gene Simmons' Family Jewels tv show on A&E. KISS fans know what they have all been doing, it is just that the majority of people still only know them from Rock N Roll All Nite and they rightfully do not really know what the band or its members have been doing. In relatively recent years KISS was also focused on pouring over video archives to create a KISSology DVD series for their fans. They are always doing something. Check out www.KISSonline.com for news and archives. This year is a big one because KISS is bringing their Alive 35 tour to the United States (as was pointed out, it was in other parts of the world last year and this spring). If you have never seen a live KISS concert.... you should. Never seeing one is like never going to Disney World.
