To celebrate its third anniversary, Companion Animal Resource & Adoption Center (CARAC) will host a Pancake Barkfest and Virtual Dog Walk on Sunday, Oct. 12, at Southridge Mall, 5300 S. 76th St., in Greendale. Barkfest will be served from 7 a.m. to noon in center court of the mall. The Virtual Dog Walk takes place from 8 a.m. - 10:30 a.m.
Barkfest will feature pancakes, sausage links, orange juice, and coffee. A raffle and auction will benefit CARAC. The cost for Barkfest is $5 per person (in advance) or $6 per person (on the day of the event). Seniors pay only $5 per person. Tickets are currently available for sale at the Adoption Center.
Registration for the Virtual Dog Walk is $25 per person or $40 per family. Individual registration includes one Barkfest ticket and a virtual dog. Family registration includes two Barkfest tickets and a virtual dog. A limited number of virtual dogs have been ordered; participants are encouraged to sign up early, as only the first 150 registrants will be guaranteed a virtual dog.
Walkers are asked to raise money for CARAC through pledges or sponsors and can choose the distance they'd like to walk. One “lap” around the lower or upper level of the mall equals a ½ mile. Prizes will be awarded to walkers who raise the most pledges. Registration forms for the Virtual Dog Walk are available at the Adoption Center and online, at www.companionanimal.org/barkfest08.htm. Walkers can also register the day of the walk, beginning at 7 a.m.
If you are interested in helping at this unique event, donating a raffle or auction item, or becoming an event sponsor, please visit www.companionanimal.org/barkfest08.htm for more information.
