Milwaukee ... A great place to be in Winter?

In Section: General Posted By: DetailsByBill

Summer is just beginning and I'm already thinking about where to travel this winter to escape the cold.

Crying out loud I'm 58 years old and have lived in Wisconsin for all but 13 years when I lived in New York. You think I'd get used to the cold. It seems to get harder to tolerate each year.

In January several years ago we decided to try something a bit different and joined a few couples who were heading to Cancun to an all-inclusive resort. Both couples had been there the year before and bragged about sitting on the beach with a cocktail in had enjoying the warm breezes while the snow continued to pile up back in Milwaukee.

We spent a week at a fabulous resort which offered a great choice of food, a fabulous beach and a wait staff that could not bear to see us with an empty cocktail glass. At night they offered a nightclub with live music and dancing. It wasn't Summerfest quality music but it was a blast. It was a great week away from old man winter.

We have since been to 8 other resorts in Mexico. We truly enjoy the all-inclusive concept almost as much as we love to cruise.

What do you do to tolerate the Wisconsin winter? What is your idea of a great vacation?

Tolerate the Wisconsin Winter? That is an oxymoron. Wisconsin should be sold to the highest bidder as a penal colony. Along with Texas.

Sounds like a great way to get away to during the winter. With service like that, who cares if the music is sub-par - I can dance to anything after some tequila! What other places have you traveled to in Mexico? I always hear about Cancun, Riviera Maya, Cabo.. but am trying to figure out if there's enough difference among these that would influence my decision on where to visit.
