I read with great interest Lisa Kaiser’s article “A Field of Dreams, Competing Visions for Housing and River Restoration.”

On January 22, America will mark the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade.

Thank you, thank you for reporting on the importance of buying locally (“Shop Smart” by Evan Rytlewski, Nov. 29).

While Joel McNally’s views on deer hunting are as god awful as the rest of his lefty ranting and raving, he does make one point: The number of kids interested in hunting is declining (“The Dying Deer Hunt,” Nov. 29).

I disagree with Michael Schumacher’s review of Eric Clapton’s autobiography (“Shufflin’, Not Rockin’,” Dec. 6).

I have known Gay Reinartz for 10 years now and I am always in awe of her commitment to conservation and the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo (“Dispatches from the Congo,” Dec. 6).

Gay, your work is fascinating and so important. I, too, am in awe of your determination. Your writing is fantastic. I am just spellbound by your journals and eagerly anticipate the next!

I’d like to sincerely thank your readers for recognizing me as “Best Milwaukee TV Personality” for 2007. I’m really quite humbled by that. I’ve been lucky enough to win a few awards in my 20-year stint in TV, but this is the first award voted on by viewers, so that’s a real kick for me.

Finally, an article about the need to develop public transportation along with rebuilding and expanding freeways ("Freeway Plans Become Urgent" by Dennis A. Shook, Nov. 22).

I wonder if this expansion is also fueled by the construction lobby. It seems there is always enough money to build new roads, but never enough to repair the ones we have in our community.
