Marcus Armand, Milwaukee

Earlier this week, the prestigious Pew Charitable Trusts and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health concluded that factory farming takes a big toll on human health and the environment, undermines rural economic stability, and fails to provide humane treatment of livestock. Capping a two-year study, with agriculture industry participation, the report calls for a national phase-out of all intensive confinement of farmed animals.

Supervisor Jursik an independent voice and balance to County Exe

Alexis Gassenhuber, Oak Creek

Expresso's 4/24/08 suggestion that Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik might support the County Executive's "worst policy proposals" lacks any foundation, given her record. Supervisor Jursik has been an independent voice and a balance to the Executive.

Open Season on Shoplifters?

David J. Livingston, Pewaukee

Thank you Good Samaritan

Ann, Rockford, Il

The jack for the Econoline is very ill adapted to the vehicle. As we were forced to park on an incline in a middle stretch with very strong winds, we found it very difficult to keep the vehicle from falling off the jack when trying to mount the spare.

It's not about changing light bulbs anymore!

Marcus Armand, Milwaukee

When Al Gore's and Leonardo DiCaprio's dramatic documentaries alerted us to the devas-tating impacts of global warming, many people went through the ritual of switching from incandescent light bulbs to the compact fluorescent variety. Unfortunately, in the case of global warming, good intentions and switching light bulbs are not good enough.

Dennis Johnson, Milwaukee

Have you heard the news? 400 Code Pink members are on a fast for impeachment of Messrs. Bush and Cheney for charges of "high crimes and misdemeanors", two candidates are running against Nancy Pelosi because she isn't considering impeachment, two towns in Vermont have voted to prosecute our Nation's top two leaders if they enter their jurisdiction, and polls say 54% of Americans want impeachment for Cheney if hearings prove wrongdoing.

Al Geiersbach

I bought 2 converters using government coupons a month ago. Digital TV has brought a dramatic improvement to my television reception, which is very noisy and unpleasant on the analog channels in my eastside, rabbit-eared hovel...
