I’m responding to this quote from EarthTalk: “The remaining Republicans (Rudy Giuliani, Fred Thompson and Ron Paul) have, at best, been noncommittal on climate change and environmental issues in general.”

I read with great interest Lisa Kaiser’s article “A Field of Dreams: Competing Visions for Housing and River Restoration” (Jan. 10). I have firsthand experience placing individuals with chronic mental illness in housing, which is not an easy task.

Thanks for the article “Don’t Stay in School” (by Joel McNally, Jan. 17). My child is in a Waukesha County school and has been sent home for some of the NO TOLERANCE issues, and I don’t mean weapons.

On Jan. 22, America marked the 35th anniversary of the Supreme Court’s landmark decision in Roe v. Wade. As a graduate student and one of four women in my family, it has been extremely important for me to know that Roe v. Wade allows me to make my own decisions.

Obie Yadgar's thoughts and conclusions, are right on target. I have been a loyal listener since WFMR was broadcast from Wauwatosa, and did not carry very far.

While Joel McNally’s views on deer hunting are as god awful as the rest of his lefty ranting and raving, he does make one point: The number of kids interested in hunting is declining (“The Dying Deer Hunt,” Nov. 29).

I disagree with Michael Schumacher’s review of Eric Clapton’s autobiography (“Shufflin’, Not Rockin’,” Dec. 6).

I have known Gay Reinartz for 10 years now and I am always in awe of her commitment to conservation and the people of the Democratic Republic of Congo (“Dispatches from the Congo,” Dec. 6).

Gay, your work is fascinating and so important. I, too, am in awe of your determination. Your writing is fantastic. I am just spellbound by your journals and eagerly anticipate the next!

I’d like to sincerely thank your readers for recognizing me as “Best Milwaukee TV Personality” for 2007. I’m really quite humbled by that. I’ve been lucky enough to win a few awards in my 20-year stint in TV, but this is the first award voted on by viewers, so that’s a real kick for me.

Finally, an article about the need to develop public transportation along with rebuilding and expanding freeways ("Freeway Plans Become Urgent" by Dennis A. Shook, Nov. 22).

I wonder if this expansion is also fueled by the construction lobby. It seems there is always enough money to build new roads, but never enough to repair the ones we have in our community.

Hamlet Deserved a Serious Review I was beyond disappointed to read Amie Segal’s immature and poorly written review of Milwaukee Ballet’s Hamlet (“Hamlet Abridged,” Nov. 8).
