As a long time reader of your publication, I'm well aware of the liberal slant of your stories, including your anti-freeway views. It would be nice if you realized that these roadways do not solely benefit the suburbs, but also serve Milwaukee as well.

Speculation of devious activities by this current administration has gone on for many years now and will continue to linger for many more. So many books have been written about Cheney's heavy-handed, manipulative and ultimately incompetent drive to war.

I’ll start at the beginning- with your title: “Film Festival in Danger?” At no point in your article do you maintain that the Film Festival is actually in danger of being suspended. And rightly so- there will absolutely be a 2008 Milwaukee International Film Festival, and 2009, 2010, 2011- you get the idea. You do a great disservice to the tens of thousands of Festival attendees when you suggest that the Festival will not take place. Milwaukee’s Future Foundation has not “shut off funding” of the Festival, and there will always be plenty of funding for such a great event- and one so important to Milwaukee’s stature as a city with offerings every bit as diverse as Chicago or Minneapolis.

Earlier this week, the prestigious Pew Charitable Trusts and Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health concluded that factory farming takes a big toll on human health and the environment, undermines rural economic stability, and fails to provide humane treatment of livestock. Capping a two-year study, with agriculture industry participation, the report calls for a national phase-out of all intensive confinement of farmed animals.

Expresso's 4/24/08 suggestion that Milwaukee County Supervisor Patricia Jursik might support the County Executive's "worst policy proposals" lacks any foundation, given her record. Supervisor Jursik has been an independent voice and a balance to the Executive.

I would like to express my deep gratitude to the man from Milwaukee who took the time to stop and help change a tire on my Econoline. My son and I were traveling from Poynette down to Rockford after having performed a gig at the Mackenzie Environmental Center. While driving on the Interstate, we blew the back tire. The jack for the Econoline is very ill adapted to the vehicle. As we were forced to park on an incline in a middle stretch with very strong winds, we found it very difficult to keep the vehicle from falling off the jack when trying to mount the spare.
