Huckabee was born in Hope, Ark., the hometown of former President Bill Clinton. The ordained Southern Baptist minister got involved in politics in 1992, when he ran for U.S. Senate and lost. He was elected lieutenant governor of Arkansas in a special election held in 1993, then won re-election in 1994. Huckabee became governor in 1996 and during his tenure he created a health insurance program that provides insurance to children from families that don’t qualify for Medicaid but can’t afford insurance on their own. Huckabee approved tax increases on cigarettes, tobacco, gas, diesel and nursing homes; he signed the Covenant Marriage Act, which is a marriage contract option that places more restrictions on divorce or separation. Huckabee lost more than 100 pounds in office and attempted to make healthy lifestyle choices a priority for state residents. Huckabee married his high school sweetheart Janet in 1974 and they have three grown children.

Did you know: In his last race for governor, his wife Janet ran for secretary of state. He won his race 53%-47%; she lost hers 38%-62%.

PLEASE DO NOT LET OBAMA AND DEMOCRATS PASS THE REFORM HEALTH BILL. IT SCARES ME TO DEATH.

It should scare you more that about 47 million Americans are uninsured (10 million children) not to mention the millions more who are under-insured. But then again, you probably don't care about anyone but yourself.

Well said anonymous.

We need health care reform. The state of this country's health care system, along with prohibitive health insurance costs, is shameful! No more procrastinating, no more denial. It is time to deal with the problem. I support President Obama.

your show is the only one that shows respect and appreciation for the life and sacrifices made by many drs in our country. a dr should make a decent living. we are going to lose many of the brightest and best young students if we continue to attack medicine. most drs. truly do not choose medicine to get rich. they want to make a difference in the world ; however, there should be no worries about paying bills and raising kids in a comfortable environment. no one values the dr. until they need one. athletes and entertainers make obscene amounts of money often without any true benefit to society; yet, they are revered, honored, and loved. wall street people who failed were bailed out with millions of dollars for their alleged expertise ; yet, doctors are slaves to ins cos. ,politicians and trial lawyers. i fear for my generation as we enter the golden years. your comments were right on target and appropriate. medicine is being used as a focus so that the public ignores obamas many failures and broken promises.
