McCain & Republican Party Disgust

Vivian Creekmore, Milton

I am disgusted by the type of campaign that Senator McCain and the Republican Party are running. Speeches by Mr. McCain and Governor Palin are creating fear and inciting hatred and violence against Mr. Obama. People in the Republican crowds have responded by calling Senator Obama "A terrorist," and have shouted "Kill him!" and "Off with his head." "Joe the Plumber" was a Republican plant and his story is a lie. Mr. McCain has lied repeatedly about Mr. Obama's tax plans in order to scare us. There are still those that believe the Republican propaganda that Mr. Obama is a Muslim: He is not and never has been a Muslim-ask Colin Powell if you don't believe me. The Republicans want us to be fearful and suspicious of Mr. Obama. The McCain campaign is using "robo calls" to accuse Senator Obama of supporting infanticide. This is a lie. McCain is trying to make us afraid of Senator Obama. The McCain campaign continues to accuse Senator Obama of "palling around with terrorists." This is a lie. They are counting on you and me to be ignorant of the facts and to be terrified. Even the accusations against ACORN about voter fraud are inaccurate and meant to scare us and to divide us. We ought to be scared: of large corporations running our governent, of "Borrow and Spend Republicans," of the kind of "Voting fraud" that can swing an entire presidential election, of dying from lack of health care because we don't have insurance, of continuing financial catastrophe because of deregulation and lack of over-sight, of governmental spying on innocent citizens and... Senator McCain and Mrs. Palin are a disgrace to conservatives and are running the sleaziest campaign that I have ever seen. How could we trust them in the White House? Vote early and vote for Senator Obama.

This above statement is a great example of how, in America, we tend to call the kettle black, and then prove we are the pot and just the same. The entire second half of this letter promotes the same fear mongering propaganda against the Republican candidate as the writer announces disgust toward Republicans for doing that very thing against Obama. As a case and point, for many years now moveon.org has been leading the market on fear mongering politics for a very long time now and spread the same rhetoric as the Obama campaign did against John McCain. I find the entire negative campaign approach from both sides disgusting, but I find the self-righteous Democrat revisionist fear mongering and then lying about it (or maybe it is just ignorance and not intentional fear-mongering) to be laughable. The fact is that Obama has now become president and he will be crusified by the same public for, in the end, being no more than a common politician. Anyone out looking for something more will have their hopes dashed. Anyone who is able to be reasonable and analytical and patient will find that this president will mess up like the rest, do good like the rest, and we will need govern their power as we have every American president. Time to be real. To answer your question: How could we trust them in the White House? The answer is... we can't.... not one of them. We have to watch them like hawks and when they do our beloved country harm, it is our duty to not be super-fans but to deal with them in every appropriate way that we can. Even though the election is done, and you take off your voters hat, it is time to put on the hat of citizen and remember this is a government by and for the people and you job is just beginning.

Whenever the (ALLEGED) right uses old axioms to emphasize their statements they are completely blind to the magnitude of what is being debated in madison. They point at this Democratic debacle & that Democratic debacle & maybe so, but nothing the Democrats have ever done has so completely and utterly gone against every grain of what America's always been about as this bill.

Even the name of this country, the UNITED STATES of AMERICA points to the FACT we are a UNION of STATES UNITED as ONE.  If we pass this bill does that declare open season on THIS UNION?  Technically speaking, it might. And having done well in History class I am not waiting for this egg to hatch. We've seen this before in the mid 20th century and once was enough. I know this sounds extreme but every piece of the puzzle is in place, the poor economy, the fanatical movements (which themselves ARE a special interest, or is the Tea party movement not a special interest group?) hate mongering and propaganda. (thank you Cult, er club for growth for those near WW2 nazi propaganda blame ads. Has someone sued you yet?)

In all seriousness, after everything I have seen and heard the GOP has no right to call itself the right anymore. It's Unamerican agenda should see it's license to be a party revoked. There is NOTHING CONSERVATIVE about attacking AMERICANS. This GOP is filled with yahoos and weirdos and it's time someone did something about it.  It's YOUR FUTURE, when you betray ideals you give up everything.

I don't care if Oscar the Grouch runs with Luke Skywalker in the next election, I am voting DEM all across the board.  NEVER, should we allow the sort of freakish anti american happenings we've seen with our own eyes from our own Capitol.

My mother in law ripped her Scott Walker bumper sticker off of her car.  I believe she is in the majority.
