Tim Burton’s Johnny Depp-starring Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was well-received, but it doesn’t have the cult-classic hallmarks of the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, which screens tonight at the Times Cinema at midnight. Funny, trippy and surprisingly dark at times, the original stars a deranged Eric Idle who, one after one, torments a string of deserving children in his nightmarish candy lab.
