Tim Burton’s Johnny Depp-starring Charlie & The Chocolate Factory was well-received, but it doesn’t have the cult-classic hallmarks of the original Willy Wonka & The Chocolate Factory, which, in a sign of its longevity, screens tonight at the Times Cinema at midnight. Funny, trippy and surprisingly dark at times, the film stars a deranged Eric Idle who, one after another, torments a string of unlikable children who visit his nightmarish candy labs.
