I agree with Mr. McNally that the government spits on vets

Bob Schweitzer

I have to comment on the audacity of Joel McNally to not believe how horrible it was to return from Vietnam. Flower/protest people were accepting of vets who joined their cause, that's about it..... maybe a little hyperbole there, but what we faced coming home is as bad as what you hear. "Came home to a wall of rejection, baby-killer to me they did say my mind travelled back to my childhood, and the values of how I was raised And I'll always be proud of what moved me, to serve in that South asian war but I'll never forget the betrayal, of the country that I did it for."

I agree with Mr. McNally  that the government spits on vets, but I am saddened that he does also.

I wish he would grow up!

McNally does not get it and God bless Mr. Schweitzer and all who have served at any time our Country called whether you like it or not. You must have typical "liberal" revisionist history Mr McNally. My Father was spat upon in both the United States and in London while in uniform. He also had garbage dumped on him in San Francisco by your good old "Patriots" as his aircraft carrier was sailing underneath the Golden Gate Bridge. My Family has this on tape as well......Don't forget Kennedy got us into Vietnam as well and Nixon got us out....I love how they always point to Nixon on a "conflict" he inherited from a Democrat but finished it. I also love the fact that Vietnam after all these years is trying to turn to Capitolism because of decades of their failed government. We won in the end. God bless all Veterans for protecting my Freedom of Speech! Patrick McDermott
Mac, you can't make blanket claims like, "Don't forget Kennedy got us into Vietnam as well and Nixon got us out," without drawing attention to yourself. It took Nixon 5 years to remove troops from Vietnam, and he was only able to do so by implementing his "Vietnamization" policy. He got rid of the draft...only to replace it with a lottery system. He signed a cease-fire accord in order to save face, without any consent for the South Vietnamese. He didn't "finish" anything. He quit. It was the right decision to quit, but he didn't do it "with honor" as he stated and he didn't "finish" anything as you stated. I don't know what you mean by "typical 'liberal' revisionist history," but you're spouting typical conservative rhetoric by suggesting that liberals don't support our troops if they don't support the war. That simply isn't so.
