Luckystar Studio

The gem of Washington Heights

By Paul Smaxwill
With a keen eye for cutting edge art and apparel, Luckystar Studio makes what is usually avant-garde totally accessible to anyone who visits. Since opening in 1999 the gallery has had many homes including Riverwest, the Third Ward and even Chicago. Luckystar features many offerings from national artists and original work from around the area as well. A gallery-within-a-gallery is devoted to smaller projects that may be more diminutive, but are no less creative and innovative.

The gallery’s bright colored walls accentuate the eclectic work that is on display. The aim of Luckystar is to be an independent beacon of artistic integrity that serves as an inclusive outlet for people to become engaged in the art world. The space hosts a weekly tea party and other functions of that sort proving that the gallery’s inclusive nature extends beyond just the arts.

Luckystar Studio is open Tuesday-Saturday 12-5pm.
