Milwaukee Opera Theatre

By John Schneider

May 31-June 2
Iolanthe

Carroll University's Otteson Theatre, 100 N. East Ave., Waukesha

In partnership with Carroll University, director James Zager will stage MOT's first Gilbert and Sullivan production minimally, placing the focus on its fairy-tale story, witty lyrics and ravishing music. This follows MOT's January premiere of a comic operetta by Milwaukeean Jason Powell inspired by the Gilbert and Sullivan oeuvre. Artistic Director Jill Anna Ponasik “liked the idea of presenting a 19th-century operetta as well as its decidedly 21st-century offspring in the same season.”
