By Daniel Gaitan

May 6
Une Grande Finale: From France to Spain
Carroll University's Shattuck Auditorium, 218 N. East Ave., Waukesha

Spanish clarinetist José Franch-Ballester will help close the Wisconsin Philharmonic's season in grand style. Known for his rendition of Debussy's Rhapsody, he has been honored with an Avery Fisher Career Grant and selection into Carnegie Hall's Professional Training Workshop. The unique musical connections between the United States, France and Spain will be on full display with selections from Maurice Ravel, whose “Spanish Symphony” of the Basque will be performed, along with Alborada del Gracioso, Pavane for a Dead Infanta and the crowd-pleasing Bolero.
