Artistic Director Dani Kuepper will remake The Gate, a 2006 dance inspired by a collage from Ed Young's book Voices of the Heart. Young combines Western symbols the way the ancient Chinese composed written characters to express concepts like forgiveness, joy, realization and the stifled heart. The concert will include a variety of personal, intimate, chamber-sized dances by company choreographers reacting to Young's symbols, arrangements and textures as a means to redefine wants and needs.
