Don’t be fooled, this very small and intimate gallery holds a great variety of Latino culture and paintings. Featuring the works of numerous Mexican and Chicano artists the gallery does an important part in highlighting the importance of immigration in its latest exhibit “Caras Vemos, Corazones No Sabemos” (Faces Seen, Hearts Unknown). The provocative and and emotional exhibit that is already gaining press runs April 11- July 13.
The exhibit highlights the experience brought on by Mexican migration into the U.S. and the socio-political implications that occur because of it, through beautiful art pieces. Approximately 100 pieces are used in the exhibit in a variety of mediums including paintings, sculptures, sound installations and more. “Cara Vemos” will be jointly presented with the Haggerty Museum of art at Marquette University.
Latino Arts, Inc. has a variety of programs and performances that bring out the culture of this South Side Milwaukee center. There are opportunities for classroom field trips, attending event performances, and viewing the gallery.
