Now a Milwaukee landmark and even considered a world icon this museum is known for the Quadracci Pavilion created by Santiago Calatrava. Opened in May 2001 the newly designed art museum is a must see for Milwaukee natives and visitors. Located on Lake Michigan and only minutes from downtown attractions the museum is a perfect way to spend an afternoon in Milwaukee.
Beautiful paintings, exhibits, and sights are sure to appeal to visitors. The brise soleil, the movable, wing-like structure opens up to 217 feet during the day and arches and folds at night or during poor weather conditions. A professional staff will help you with any questions/concerns you have about exhibits, upcoming events, and any questions you may have about the museum in general.
The newest exhibit is On Site: Santiago Cucullu, a Milwaukee-based artist who is producing an exhibit described as a head-on collision between an artist’s imagination and the external environment which shapes them. Cucullu’s installation will fill the galleria—the marble-floored arched pathway. It will broadcast images and sounds form DVD loops and various scenes. The exhibit runs April 24, 2008- January 4, 2009.
